LUBBOCK, Texas — Sweet Pup Co., a Lubbock-owned business, recently opened a new storefront up and running at 3532 34th Street, where they are welcoming in new customers with open arms.
Bernadette Hernandez, the owner of Sweet Pup Co., said the business began when she was only 12 years old when her mother gifted her a dog treat maker.

“I was fostering puppies, and I really couldn’t afford to take care of all the puppies, like buy them treats and all this extra stuff,” Hernandez said. “We started making dog treats, and we started selling them at the downtown farmers market also just to get some extra money.”
Her veteran father, Bo, knew her passion and love for this, so he began to help her make dog treats. However, a couple of years after starting, her father fell ill with encephalitis and began to feel depressed.
