Lubbock robber who crashed into apartment complex gets federal prison

LUBBOCK, Texas — Jaden Tipton, 20, agreed to plead guilty to federal charges in connection with a July robbery that ended with a crash into an apartment building and left two people injured, according to federal court records obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Wednesday.

Around 1:50 a.m. July 10, officers with the Lubbock Police Department were called to the 3800 block of 34th Street for a robbery at a gas station.

Federal court documents stated a cashier at the gas station told police Tipton approached the counter, pointed a gun and demanded everything in the register. Court records said the cashier gave him the money and Tipton drove away.

Shortly later, at 2:43 a.m., court records said officers were called to the 3400 block of Indiana Avenue for a robbery at a different gas station. The cashier at the second gas station said Tipton paid for $15 worth of gas before he came back into the store, grabbed a food item and got in line. Court records said the customer in front of him was having a hard time paying for his items, and at that point, Tipton pulled out his gun and demanded money from the register. After getting the money, court documents stated Tipton took several cartons of cigarettes.
