VERNON, Texas — Lubbock High Westerners wrestling placed first at district with 246.5 team points. Lubbock High head coach Richard Leal was named varsity boys district 4-5A coach of the year.
Lubbock-Cooper Lady Pirates wrestling takes 1st in district; Rios named coach of year
The Westerners had four first place winners. Lubbock-Cooper finished 3rd with two finishing in first for their weight class. Lubbock Estacado had two wrestlers take first place while the newcomers Lubbock-Cooper Liberty had one first place wrestler for the 190-weight class.
All wrestlers that placed in the top 4 have secured their spot at regionals with the 5th place wrestler going as an alternate.
