Here are this week’s nominees

Katherine Dyal, senior, Frenship High School

Katherine is enrolled in the most rigorous level of core academic courses while balancing involvement in extracurricular activities including Academic UIL and Decathlon. Not only is Katherine a 6A State Champion in Academic UIL Copy Editing, but she is also in the running to become a 2024 National Merit Scholarship Finalist.

Elizabeth Hughes, senior, Coronado High School

Lizzie is an outstanding scholar who serves Coronado High School and Lubbock ISD in too many ways to mention. She is the Health Occupations Students of America Chapter President for Lubbock ISD and is the Region 4 Vice President for the same organization. Lizzie is the Coronado HS National Honor Society Vice President, serves on the Lubbock ISD Health Science Advisory Committee, is a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, a Mustang Mentor and Mustang Ambassador, an AP Scholar, a UIL academics competitor, is a pom squad member, and a participant in Mock Trial. Lizzie is a semifinalist for the Bezos Leadership Scholarship and she plans to attend Seattle University, where she will participate in dance and study biology with an emphasis in neuroscience.
