Man shot in face at Lubbock restaurant on Monday morning, police said

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department said a man was seriously hurt after he was shot in the face at a restaurant in the 5000 block of Avenue Q early Monday morning.

LPD said officers were called at 3:44 a.m. to Covenant Medical Center after the victim, identified as Rodrick Gant, 39, showed up with a gunshot wound. According to police, Gant’s injuries were not life-threatening. LPD said officers determined Gant was in line at the restaurant when he was shot.

“Employees of the business were able to physically engage the suspect and disarm him before he left the scene,” LPD said.

According to police, no arrests had been made as of Monday morning and the investigation is ongoing. LPD stated, “There is not believed to be an ongoing threat to the public.”
