Lubbock nonprofit receives $2.6 million to help aid the homeless population

LUBBOCK, Texas — U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced that Lubbock Open Door, a local nonprofit, will be receiving $2,643,495 through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development per a press release.

According to the press release, these grants will assist with housing and support services for families, children and domestic violence survivors experiencing homelessness.

Sen. Cornyn stated how much of a necessity this money is for Lubbock’s homeless population and how these tools will benefit them in the future as well.

“The funding will give those on the front lines of this crisis in Lubbock the tools to help Texans secure permanent housing and achieve their long-term goals,” he said.
