ROPESVILLE, Texas — Ropes Elementary School paid homage to Jill Reep, a former teacher who lost her life in a 2019 crash in Hockley County.

In January 2019, a pickup truck drifted near FM 1585 and Hummingbird Road, which led to Reep being ejected from the vehicle and passing away from her injuries.

Danny McNabb, principal of Ropes Elementary, said Reep was a second-grade teacher who loved her students. He referred to her as a “great person” and wanted the vending machine to serve as a “memento for her service” to her students.

Principal McNabb said students who receive books from the machine will be a part of “Reep’s Ropes Readers.”

The books were donated by Ms. Reep’s family and are available to students in grades K through 5th.
