Lubbock road rage shooting suspect sentenced for federal gun charge

LUBBOCK, Texas — A man accused of shooting at a woman during a road rage incident in Lubbock, D’Marcus Carter-Palmer, 25, was sentenced to five years in federal prison for a weapon charge, according to court documents obtained on Wednesday.

Carter-Palmer was arrested in January of 2023 after officers found two guns in his vehicle during a traffic stop in Hockley County.

EverythingLubbock.com previously reported officers were called to the 2900 block of Hartford Avenue on December 6, 2022. According to the Lubbock Police Department, the victim was in the 3200 block of 34th Street when she passed Carter-Palmer. Police said Carter-Palmer followed her to 33rd Street where he got out of the vehicle and started shooting.

Carter-Palmer’s federal sentence will run concurrently with any handed down in Lubbock and Hockley County. As of Wednesday, those cases, including the shooting, were still pending.
