A splash of romance: Texas pond captures hearts before Valentine’s day

LUBBOCK COUNTY, Texas — A home in Lubbock County went viral recently after a screenshot of its heart-shaped pond was posted in a Facebook group. The homeowner said the pond, affectionately named “Cupid’s Pond,” came to be thanks to inspiration from Pinterest.

The homeowner said when she and her husband moved into their house in 2016, they created the pond from spare land in the backyard.

“There was a little area from dirt work that was meant for a pond and then we got on Pinterest and started looking at ponds, and there was one that was shaped in a heart,” the homeowner said.

The couple reached out to David Richards, an excavator from Childress, to help with the project. They later met with an architect to help create the fishing docks that resemble an arrow. The homeowner told EverythingLubbock.com the pond had been the venue of a few proposals, and even parties for Easter and the Fourth of July.
