Lubbock holds cheapest gas price in Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock had the lowest gas price in the State of Texas as of Thursday with an average cost of $2.64 regular unleaded gas per gallon while the statewide average was $2.94 per gallon, according to AAA Texas gas report.

The report said the average gas price in Texas a week ago was approximately $2.82 per unleaded gallon. As of Thursday gas prices cost about $2.94 in the state averaging a $0.12 increase, the report added.

Amarillo followed second place in the state with cheapest regular unleaded gas price averaging $2.69. However, the AAA reported last week Amarillo’s price averaged $2.90 yielding a $0.19 increase.

Comparatively, regular unleaded gas prices per gallon in Lubbock had increased about $0.04 as of Thursday with its unleaded gas price last week averaging $2.60, said the AAA.

In Texas, El Paso was listed the most expensive in the state with unleaded gas averaging  $3.29. Midland falls in second place behind El Paso with a gas price average of $3.03, the AAA reported.
