Man facing multiple charges after Lubbock police chase ended in crash

LUBBOCK, Texas — Julieus Kyles, 20, was arrested on Thursday and faces multiple charges after a pursuit that ended in a crash in North Lubbock, according to the Lubbock Police Department.

An LPD officer attempted to stop a passenger car driven by Kyles in the 1600 block of Northeast Loop 289. LPD said Kyles refused to stop the vehicle which prompted the officer to initiate a pursuit.

Kyles traveled west on Loop 289 Access Road before turning onto University Avenue. According to LPD, Kyles attempted to turn west at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center but struck a metal fence before coming to a stop. He then exited the vehicle and ran off.

Kyles was taken into custody after a short pursuit, according to LPD. As of Friday, Kyles remained at the Lubbock County Detention Center and being charged with Theft of a Firearm, Evading in a vehicle, Evading on Foot, Unlawful Carrying a Weapon and unrelated warrants. Online jail records said his bonds total $14,500.
