West Texas Ag project aims to tell the stories of local farmers, ranchers

Hi readers!

The Avalanche-Journal team has been scouring the South Plains as part of a new feature and storytelling effort to highlight one of the industries that made the Hub City a hub – agriculture. We’ve met farmers and ranchers at their homes, saw them at work, learned their stories and found a common thread.

That thread was the West Texas spirit. The ingenuity and the can-do attitude to work with what you have and make it thrive. The spirit that inspires those around them to be great while also collaborating when issues arise.

That inspired us to highlight the people who exemplify this spirit, while also discussing their trials and challenges when working in the sometimes challenging climate of West Texas. This has led us to launch a new resource from the A-J, where you can find all the ag-related profiles and industry-related topics from West Texas.

Titled “West Texas Ag,” we have launched a landing page on our website — lubbockonline.com/westtexasag — so you can easily access our continuing coverage. You will be able to find Alana Edgin’s profiles on the many local farms in our areas — both big and small — and Mateo Rosiles’ impact stories on how West Texas ag connects to everyone.
