Lubbock schools working with authorities to identify who made threats

LUBBOCK, Texas — High schools in every major district in the Lubbock metro area received additional threats of violence on Tuesday morning. Officials said the threats were not credible, and the all-clear was given for students to return to their classes.

Tuesday was the second day in a row of threats being reported at some schools in the area.

Lubbock-area schools evacuated after bomb threats, officials said ‘no immediate danger’

The Lubbock Independent School District said Coronado and Monterey high schools responded to separate safety incidents on Tuesday. District officials said the SECURE protocol was activated at Coronado after a “phone threat” against the campus. Officials said students and staff stayed inside, and the protocol was lifted later in the morning. There will be an increased law enforcement presence at the school for the rest of the day.

At Monterey High School, a bomb threat prompted an evacuation to the football field. Police investigated with bomb threat detection K9, and no danger was found. The school day continued with a slight delay in lunch service.
