Lubbock apartment accused of owing workers money for cleaning services

LUBBOCK, Texas– Sabrina Rodriguez said it has been months since she worked for the Indiana Village Apartment Homes providing cleaning services, but has yet to be paid.

“The whole time they were stalling me, telling me ‘Yeah it’s going to take 30 days to get paid,’” Rodriguez said.  “After the 30 days at the end of July, I started questioning, ‘Hey what’s going on with my pay?’ and the manager kept telling me ‘It’s coming,’” Rodriquez added.

“I cleaned six to seven units a day all by myself in the heat. Those are days that were 100 degrees over and you know just to turn around and someone to tell me that they’ll eventually pay me, that’s hurtful, and honestly what makes me want to hang up my towel for my small business,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez was told by the onsite property manager that it was a corporate issue and the funds were not available to pay her just yet, but they would be eventually. Rodriguez said she was in contact with the regional manager and finance/accounting representative, who had both told her the pay would be delayed.
