TxDOT I-27 maintenance project moves to 66th Street bridge, closures expected

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation said crews are scheduled to remove barricades and shift work onto the 66th Street bridge at I-27 on Friday, Sept. 13. Drivers can expect closures along the 66th Street bridge and the westbound Loop 289 frontage road scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This transition comes as crews completed westbound Loop 289 frontage road bridge repairs at I-27. Closures are expected to last about two weeks, according to TxDOT.

Rollover reported in Lubbock County on Thursday morning

TxDOT said the outside lanes of 66th Street will remain open to traffic once the barriers have been removed. Westbound Loop 289 frontage road lanes and the cloverleaf ramps will stay open to traffic Friday afternoon.

Work will take place weather permitting, according to TxDOT.
