PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — A Texas man is dead following a fatal crash that occurred in Belle Chasse on Thursday, Sept. 12.
According to a report from the Louisiana State Police, troopers with Troop B responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 23 near Shady Oaks Lane around 10:30 p.m.

The initial investigation showed that 22-year-old Chance Dickerson, of Lubbock, Texas, was driving a 2008 Nissan Z southward on LA 23. For reasons that are still being investigated, the Nissan went off the right side of the road and hit a mailbox as well as two electrical poles.
Dickerson was restrained but still suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
Routine toxicology samples were taken for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
