5 people connected to deadly shooting at Lubbock afterhours club

LUBBOCK, Texas — Court documents recently obtained by EverythingLubbock.com connected five people to a shooting at an afterhours club on August 25 that left 17-year-old Dalequavion Barnard York dead, and five others injured.

Byron Hawkins, Jr., 22, Christen Nelson, 23, Dazaun Jones, 18, Joshua Price, 27, and Lavarius Scott, 19, were taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center. They were all charged with Deadly Conduct Discharging a Firearm and held on bonds of at least $200,000.

EverythingLubbock.com previously reported the shooting happened just before 3:00 a.m. in the 9200 block of Highway 87. Court documents said when first responders arrived at the club, multiple people had been shot.

Shooting was captured on surveillance video

Video of the incident showed Hawkins, Scott and Jones arrive in a vehicle and walking into a crowd before they split up and went different directions. Court documents said Jones and Scott were seen shooting into a crowd of people, specifically in the direction of Nelson and York.
