Lubbock man accused of recording woman in bathroom of business

LUBBOCK, Texas — Matthew Selvera, 22, was arrested on July 3 and accused of recording someone in the restroom of a Lubbock business in the 7600 block of Milwaukee Avenue without her consent. Court records obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Tuesday revealed more details of the incident.

The victim said she went to the women’s restroom to change for work. Court records said as the victim was walking in, Selvera grabbed something off of a shelf where the business stores cleaning supplies and walked out.

Court records said the victim looked around the restroom to make sure there wasn’t a camera before she changed her clothes due to another similar incident. The victim then found a cell phone that was propped up and somewhat hidden by a clothing box, as she looked closer, she saw the phone was recording.

The victim told a Lubbock Police Department officer the phone belonged to Selvera. When an officer asked Selvera what was going on, he said he had made a “stupid decision.” Selvera then admitted to an officer he placed his phone in the bathroom intending to record someone.
