Lubbock has lowest gas prices in Texas again

LUBBOCK, Texas — Drivers in Lubbock are once again paying the least for gas at $2.58 per gallon, according to a report released by AAA Texas on Thursday morning.

The statewide gas price average in Texas was $2.78, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. The report said of the metropolitan areas that were surveyed, El Paso drivers were paying the most at an average of $3.08 per gallon.

“The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.22, which is two cents less when compared to this day last week and 66 cents less per gallon when compared to this day last year,” a AAA report stated.

The report also cited new data from the Energy Information Administration, stating demand fell to a six-week low. The AAA report also said falling gasoline demand and oil costs will likely keep prices at the pump low.

“Texas gas prices are 18.9 percent lower when compared to one year ago,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson. “Fuel price averages are expected to continue to move lower as Autumn begins.”
