LUBBOCK, Texas — Marcus Ortiz, 22, was arrested on Thursday and accused of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in connection with a 2023 shooting that left a woman hurt, according to court documents obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Friday.
Ortiz was taken into custody by the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office near 186th Street and University Avenue, according to online jail records.

Court documents stated deputies were called to the 1800 block of County Road 7720 just before 4:00 a.m. on October 1, 2023. While heading to the scene, deputies were told that a woman had been shot.
When authorities arrived, they found a woman laying on her back in a driveway with two other women kneeling near her. A deputy noticed a “large amount of blood” pooling under the victim, according to court documents. Court records said the victim had a gunshot wound on her shoulder near her neck.
