Lubbock Light Park: Drive-through winter wonderland coming soon near the mall

LUBBOCK, Texas — Hundreds of thousands of lights, over 500 animated characters, 17-foot trees and more. That’s what a new drive-through Christmas display is promising to bring to Lubbock come November.

Lubbock Light Park , organized by local couple Zach and Grace Maldonado, is slated to open Nov. 8, 2024 between the Home Depot and Premiere Cinemas movie theater parking lots at 6002 Slide Road.

“It’s going to be sort of a winter wonderland of lights, if you will,” Zach told EverythingLubbock.com. “Lubbock has never seen anything like this.”

An 80-yard tunnel will take visitors through a park of various animated items all synchronized to music.

“People are doing this all across the nation and I saw it last year and I just thought, ‘well let’s do it,’” Zach said. “We have a great company we’re working with… The city worked great with us, South Plains Mall has been great to work with.”

Lubbock Light Park will be open Nov. 8 through Dec. 27, seven days a week. Hours of operation will be 5:30-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5:30-11 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
