PANHANDLE, Texas – Texas Game Warden Ryan Hunter has been promoted to Captain of Region 6, District 2, covering the central and western Texas Panhandle around Lubbock. Hunter, originally from Fort Worth and raised in Gatesville, Texas, began his career in Dumas at age 23. MORE NEWS: Texas News Hunter applied to the Game Warden Training Academy while attending Hardin-Simmons University and was one of the youngest in the 55th cadet class. Since 2010, he has served areas around Dumas, Canadian, and Amarillo, focusing on community policing and building partnerships with local law enforcement, according to the Texas Game Wardens. As Captain, Hunter aims to strengthen and broaden these relationships in the Panhandle.
