Shallowater man who stalked victim before gunning him down gets prison for murder

LUBBOCK, Texas — Robert Miner, 39, of Shallowater has pleaded guilty to Murder on Wednesday in connection with the 2020 shooting death of Cody Moreno. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

EverythingLubbock.com previously reported police were called to the 1700 block of 30th Street on May 7, 2020, for a vehicle crash and shots fired. A warrant said by the time officers arrived, Moreno was dead in the driver seat of a car.

Court records said police were told “a man named ‘Dozer’ had pulled a gun on him [Moreno] a couple of times over the past two weeks.”

According to court documents, Miner, who went by “Dozer,” had threatened Moreno several times over a Facebook message dispute. Court records stated police found evidence that Miner’s jeep crashed into Moreno’s car. A warrant said it was clear Minor was waiting for Moreno.

“This video demonstrated the effort of Miner to stalk Moreno. Miner then chased him down and shot Moreno causing his death,” the warrant said. Previously obtained court documents did not disclose specific details about the dispute between Miner and Moreno that led up to the murder.
