Fronts Are Making Their Way

LUBBOCK, TX (KLBK) – KLBK Meteorologist Leah Rodriguez has your Saturday evening weather update for October 12, 2024.

Tonight: Clear night. Low 62 degrees. Wind SW→W 8-12 MPH.
Tomorrow : Mostly Clear. High 92 degrees. Winds E 10-15 MPH .

Tonight:
This afternoon we obliterated an old record high temperature with a high of 99 degrees. Our old record was 92 degrees set in 1989. This is the latest Lubbock has EVER seen a temperature this warm. Tonight, skies will remain clear to mostly clear, and winds will be slightly breezy. Morning temperatures will range from the mid-50s to mid-60s. After sunrise, we will see a weak front move through the area from north to south. This won’t decrease temperatures all that much, but it will help slow our daytime heating.

Sunday:
The Lubbock area will not see that front pass through until the early afternoon hours. We still expect our high temperatures to make it to the low 90s and upper 80s for areas on the Caprock. It will still be a warm day for areas off the Caprock as temperatures will make it to the mid-90s. If you are outside tomorrow, consider wearing a hat and sunscreen as skies will remain very sunny. Humidity will also drop thanks to the front, so be careful lighting fires as a spark could spread rapidly. Winds will be from the east behind the front with speeds between 10-15 MPH.
