Lubbock family in need of help after losing two loved ones in weekend crash

LUBBOCK, Texas — A Lubbock family is left to plan two funerals after a North Lubbock crash on Saturday, October 19. Briana Arredondo, the daughter of Cruz Moreno, 40, and niece of Bobby Moreno, 38, created a GoFundMe to help offset the unexpected cost of planning two funerals.

“I honestly do not know how we’re supposed to figure this thing out and plan two funerals,” Arredondo wrote on the GoFundMe.

The Lubbock Police Department said Cruz got out of the vehicle in the 4800 block of North Interstate-27 which Arredondo and Bobby occupied. Cruz began walking in the roadway where she was then struck by an SUV traveling south.

Following the initial collision, Bobby also exited the vehicle to check on the victims, at
which point he and Cruz were both struck by a pick-up truck, also in the southbound lanes.

“Keep me and my family in your prayers please, and if you can help out that’s wonderful. If not, we’ll still thank you,” Arredondo said.
