After trailing 13-0 after the first quarter, the Colorado Buffaloes put up 31 second-half points on Saturday to beat Texas Tech, 41-27.
Prior to kickoff, head coaches Deion Sanders and Joey McGuire met on the field for an unusual-looking pregame greeting, at least for fans who weren’t familiar with the backstory.
The two Big 12 coaches go way back , with McGuire having coached Deion Sanders Jr. at Cedar Hills High School (TX) in 2009.
āIām excited to see a good friend,ā McGuire said of Sanders Sr. earlier in the week.
On Saturday, Sanders got down on one knee and began bowing down in respect as McGuire approached to shake his hand and share an embrace, which was captured by broadcast cameras.
The Fox College Football account posted a video of the moment on X.
“He’s a stand up guy… whatever they are paying him at Texas Tech is not enough… he is what college football is all about and I’m glad to be his friend,” Sanders said about McGuire during a sit-down interview with Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff” before the game.
