Frenship ISD student designs ornament for the state capitol Christmas tree

LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas state representative Carl Tepper, reached out to Terra Vista Middle School in Frenship ISD and asked the school to decorate his glass ornament for the state capitol Christmas tree. One 8th grader named Jasiah Reyes was the selected student who got to put his design on the glass ornament.

“This whole process has been kind of awkward, exciting and fast, and I never really thought of it as a big deal,” Reyes said.

Reyes’ art teacher, Jana Garrison, had her whole art class compete for the chance to have their design hung on the Texas capitol Christmas tree.

“My 8th graders were given a paper ornament, and they designed it from there and so it was exciting,” Garrison said. “But one of them just stood out.”

Garrison described the kind of person that Reyes was.
