Latin American flavors come to Wolfforth with new family restaurant

A family’s food truck is branching out this weekend by opening its first restaurant, with the dream of introducing the community to food from Latin American countries.

The mother-daughter duo behind the upcoming Hey Vos Latin Restaurant, 602 Donald Preston Drive in Wolfforth, specialize in cuisine from Honduras, Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Argentina.

“They’re going to love all of the food, because we are trying to pick up all the famous plates from every country, so they’re all pretty good,” said Jorge Varela, speaking for the owners, who are his mother and sister. “A lot of the dishes will become favorites for a lot of people.”

The restaurant’s grand opening will be from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. Customers are welcome to eat in the restaurant or at the fenced-in back patio. Non-alcoholic drinks are available, including a selection of mocktails.

“We want everybody to feel at home, because that’s kind of the point of the food,” Varela said. “Homemade, like your mom is serving you. Come and try the food. We’re excited to open and serve you all.”
