LUBBOCK, Texas — Jamie Banuelos said she and her family have lived in their Lubbock neighborhood for over a decade and have never had any problems.
But that streak ended Monday morning when Banuelos was awoken by a loud bang.
“I got up and I got my gun right away cause I mean the dog’s going crazy, so something’s wrong,” Banuelos said. “Dad, did you open the door? And he’s like, ‘No’, so he goes over there and you can see the wood all popped out and messed up and he was like ‘Somebody just kicked on the door,’” Banuelos added.

While the door was kicked in, Banuelos said her dog barking may have startled the intruders.
The Lubbock Police Department said they responded to the home at 5:15 a.m. for a burglary and found one very telling clue left outside the home.
“They are definitely missing their phone so we’ve got that at least. He said that they were calling it and looking for it,” Banuelos said
While the family thought the nightmare of a morning was over, a knock at the door would leave them even more upset. Banuelos said the intruders returned looking for their phone less than an hour after the break-in after police left.
