LUBBOCK, Texas – With the Thanksgiving holiday just days away, everythinglubbock.com spoke with the Lubbock Animal Shelter to discuss what foods are and are not safe for your pets to eat.
It’s almost time for Thanksgiving, so the Lubbock Animal Shelter encouraged pet owners to be mindful of what their pets eat or get a hold of from the table.
Lubbock Animal Services urgently seeking foster for 12 Labrador puppies
Taylor Ruggles, Assistant Director at the Lubbock Animal Shelter, provided some insight on what foods to avoid giving your pets and what foods are safe.
Ruggles said that if you know your pet has a lot of allergies or is known to have a sensitive stomach, she recommends not disrupt your pets normal eating habits by giving your pets Thanksgiving table food.
Foods that are safe for pets:
- Unseasoned cooked turkey
- Carrots
- Celery
- Sweet potatoes
- Pumpkin Puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
- Green beans plain
- Small amounts of cheese
- Corn (not corn on the cob)
- Peas
- Apple slices (no seeds or core)
