‘Stick them up’: New details about West Lubbock murder revealed in court records

LUBBOCK, Texas — Court records obtained on Friday indicated Bryan Garcia, 23, and Xavier Garcia, 21, were accused of murdering Devante Edwards in West Lubbock during a drug deal.

EverythingLubbock.com obtained court documents detailing the events leading up to the murder of Edwards.

Detectives with the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit and investigators with the department’s Forensic Investigations Unit investigated with the assistance of several witnesses, discovered Edwards’s involvement with selling narcotics and how he was possibly selling “100 pens” to an unknown subject on the day of the murder. Court records describe “pens” as street slang for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) vape pens.
