Lubbock detective warns of dangers on social media, child exploitation

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Social media is a 24/7 resource that can be used in many different ways, with billions of people having access to the world at their fingertips.

Detective Olivia Boggs with the Special Victims Unit for the Lubbock Police Department says not everyone has the best intentions when roaming the web, though.

“We call it the grooming phase, they end up getting to know that person,” Boggs said. “What’s your favorite color, what school do you go to, you know, what do you like to do, what hobbies, kind of getting to know somebody.”…
