LPD set to host free Citizens Motorcycle Academy

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lubbock Police Department’s Motors Unit announced its Citizens Motorcycle Academy scheduled for Saturday, May 10 was full and no longer taking applications.

The department said this event is designed not only to give the public a nuanced look at the rigorous training LPD motors officers go through, but to enhance their own riding skills.

Citizens were encouraged to apply as soon as possible as the class size was limited.

Driver runs straight into Lubbock community leader’s house

Each person will need to be a licensed motorcycle rider with a current driver’s license and motorcycle endorsement.

While there is no cost to participate, riders will need to provide their own motorcycle, lunch, drinks and snacks for the day. Dress in appropriate clothing with close-toed shoes, helmet and long pants.
