Salt by Angie opens in historic Downtown Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas — Salt by Angie opened in Downtown Lubbock on Tuesday, March 18. The brains behind the operation, Chef Angie Ragan, said she has worked for the last six months perfecting the restaurant’s menu and the perfect space in the Kress Building.

Ragan hopes to bring something unique but familiar with her restaurant. To tie in the historic style of the Kress Building, Ragan said her food will bring a nostalgic feeling while creating a new experience.

“I’m just wanting to bring that old-school hospitality back,” Ragan said.

Ragan, who was a finalist on Gordon Ramsay’s Next Level Chef Fox in 2022, always knew she was a good cook but didn’t start cooking for others until 2019. Ragan began selling meals out of her home at the time in San Angelo to save up for her son’s big senior trip. In just a few months, Ragan had raised $20,000 for the trip through her cooking…
