Slide Road traffic to be detoured as crews work on new bridge

LUBBOCK, Texas — According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), on Monday, March 24, Slide Road at Loop 88 will be closed to traffic from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., allowing crews to safely place beams for a new bridge.

This project is part of a $154.8 million project to convert FM 1585 from a rural, two-lane roadway into Loop 88, a six-lane freeway with frontage roads, bridges, and ramps. Beam-hanging operations will run nightly throughout the week until Saturday evening, and the intersection will be open during the daytime.

According to a press release, southbound slide traffic will be detoured around the work zone to Chicago Avenue, and northbound Slide traffic will be detoured to Quaker Avenue.
