Lubbock community rallies against school voucher legislation

LUBBOCK, Texas –A bill that would create education savings accounts, also known as school vouchers, is currently stalled in a Texas House committee. The issue, which has sparked heated debate, has become one of the most controversial topics of this legislative session.

The proposed legislation, Senate Bill 3, passed through the Texas Senate in February. However, similar efforts in the past have faced significant roadblocks in the House, leading to repeated special sessions. Reverend Charles Johnson, of Second Baptist Church, is hopeful that history will repeat itself and that the bill will be delayed again. He is urging Texans to contact their representatives and voice their opposition.
