If you were hoping to dive into a City of Lubbock pool this summer, we’ve got some bad news. Despite many citizens asking for pools to be re-opened, the City of Lubbock isn’t anywhere close to re-opening the pools.
Clapp Pool In Lubbock To Remain Closed
Last year, the City of Lubbock announced that Clapp Pool, the last remaining pool that was being used by the city, would be closed for the summer due to major maintenance issues. It appears those maintenance issued were not addressed as Clapp pool will remain closed this year.
When Lubbock Mayor Mark McBrayer ran for Mayor in 2024, he said in several debates and meetings that he would work hard to keep Clapp pool open, and that he was open to the idea of an aquatic center, though that would have to be done through a bond election.
Bond Election Probably Needed to Build a New Pool in Lubbock
The message from the City of Lubbock seems to be, no more public pools for a while.
