LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A First Alert Weather Day has been declared for Saturday as a strong storm system moves across the west Texas region Friday night into Saturday. The system should move east on Sunday.
Showers and storms will change over to a mixture of rain/snow, then to mostly snow on Saturday. Winter weather will impact the region through Sunday morning.
Friday night into early Saturday it will be showers and storms except in the Panhandle. As a strong cold front moves southward Saturday morning, the cold air will change the rain to a mixture of rain/snow. As the colder air moves south, and the storm moves over the South Plains, there will be snow accumulations that could range from 1 to 5 inches in the north to northwest areas. Lubbock could see between one to three inches with this storm.
Travel hazards will develop in the northwest areas early in the morning and spread across the remainder of the area on Saturday.
