Lubbock Police K-9 Escapes, Attacks Two People Before Being Shot

The Lubbock Police Department (LPD) is investigating an incident where one of its K-9s escaped from its handler’s backyard and subsequently attacked two citizens in the 5700 block of 108th Street in South Lubbock.

Officers responded to a call about the dog attack just after 8:30 a.m. During the incident, a citizen intervened and shot and killed the attacking animal, which was later identified as an LPD K-9.

Shortly after the attack was reported, an off-duty Lubbock Police officer contacted dispatch to report that his police K-9 was missing from his yard. It was later confirmed that this was the same K-9 involved in the attack…
