Lubbock, Texas – Large hail and damaging winds could sweep through West Texas this evening as fast-moving thunderstorms hit the region between 2 and 8 p.m., with Lubbock and surrounding cities directly in the storm’s path.
According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, storms will develop early afternoon near the Texas–New Mexico border and rapidly push east at 40–50 mph. Areas along the I-27 corridor — including Plainview, Lubbock, and Post — are most at risk for large hail and gusty winds between 4 and 8 p.m.
Cities such as Muleshoe, Littlefield, Levelland, and Brownfield could see storms begin as early as 2 p.m., with eastern locations like Spur and Paducah affected into the evening.
