Lubbock Bishop reacts to Robert Prevost becoming first-ever American Pope

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Conclave elected Robert Francis Prevost today, making history as the Chicago-Born Cardinal is now the first-ever American Pope. The Villanova alumnus will now be known as Pope Leo XIV.

It’s news Lubbock Bishop Robert Coerver described as surprising, saying the decision will have a major impact on the American church.
