Texas Tech walked off the Knights in extra innings to even the weekend’s Big 12 series up at a game a piece. It was a defensive showcase for both teams at times with double plays getting turned every other half inning it seemed. Even when the Red Raiders made mistakes, like Coleman Ryan’s error in the 7th to put two on with no outs, the defense responded by cutting down the lead runner at third on the following pitch before ending the inning with a double play started by Ryan himself.
The Red Raiders only needed two arms to get through 11 innings with Tyler Boudreau and Jack Cebert combining for 11 innings, with 8 strikeouts and two earned runs. The pair scattered 11 base runners while the Texas Tech defense picked them off on the base paths.
The Knights defense was also up to the task, going bar for bar with Texas Tech turning double plays and erasing base runners. UCF got a run in the first, but would trail by the bottom of the third, not tying the game back up until the top of the 8th…
