United Supermarkets Donates $30,000 to Help Feed Lubbock Kids in Need

A major boost for a vital local nonprofit came Thursday when United Supermarkets announced a $30,000 donation to Food2Kids, helping ensure that children in Lubbock don’t go hungry over the weekend.

Filling the Gap

The donation will directly support the Weekend Snack Bag Program, a signature initiative from Food2Kids designed to fill the critical food gap for children from Friday’s school lunch until Monday morning’s breakfast. These snack bags are often the only source of nutrition for many kids during that time.

Currently, the program serves around 2,000 children from 34 schools across the Lubbock area, including campuses in Lubbock ISD, Frenship ISD, and Lubbock-Cooper ISD.
