LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A few isolated thunderstorms will continue to move eastward throughout Sunday evening, with a few strong wind gusts possible.
No severe weather is expected. A mild and quiet overnight period is expected, with lows above 60° for most of the region. Continuous southeasterly winds will result in a steady increase in low-level moisture.
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected across the entire region from Monday afternoon through late Monday evening, with a few storms likely to be severe. Before the development of these storms, models are in good agreement that surface heating with southwesterly wind flow will likely result in the majority of Monday`s storms being high-based. Surface dewpoints will be mainly in the 50s by afternoon.
Models seem to be in agreement that a cluster of storms will develop in the western and central portions of our region after about 2 PM, then move easterly toward the Caprock by evening. Some of these storms will likely be severe, with the severe hazards likely being damaging wind gusts and large hail.
Storms will likely die down in coverage by late Monday evening, but some storm activity may persist into the overnight hours…
