FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY: Severe weather expected this afternoon

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – update 11:58 a.m. – The mid-day Storm Prediction Center outlook has a level 3 out of 5 risk across our area.

This doesn’t mean everyone in the outlook will see severe weather. But everyone in our area needs to be prepared for significant severe weather this afternoon and evening.

Just before Noon, we are seeing clearing over the SW South Plains, where the temperature has climbed to around 80 at Denver City and Seminole. It’s still cloudy and cooler around Lubbock, upper 60s with some drizzle.

There is a lot of humidity in place, with the dew point in the mid 60s to low 70s…
