Belt-wielding Lubbock man arrested after SWAT callout in February pleads guilty

LUBBOCK, Texas — Dexter Dorsey pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Tuesday and will serve eight years deferred adjudication. Other counts were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Previous reports said Dorsey barricaded himself inside a house in the 8600 block of 10th Street but eventually exited and was taken into custody on three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Evading Arrest or Detention at the time.

According to police reports Dorsey, had charged at another man with a belt in hand, swinging it around. When the officer attempted to calm Dorsey down, he exclaimed “Donald Trump will hear about this.” Next, the officer deployed his taser, but Dorsey ran back to his residence. The officer said he did not give chase due to the only crime he knew of being Disorderly Conduct…
