LUBBOCK, Texas — Last week’s severe weather affected many people in the western part of the county, including Emmaleia Boyd and her family. They lived in a quadruplex when the tornado hit the area; their home was severely damaged and became uninhabitable.
“I finally went in, and I walked through. And I just walked right back out. I didn’t even check the closets. I just looked a little bit, and I just walked back out. I just couldn’t deal at the moment. My first thought was, ‘Okay. We just got to get somewhere tonight, to stay in, and at least we’re okay,” Boyd said.
According to Boyd, the damage to the house was so bad that her family could not live there anymore.

“I was low-key having a panic attack. So, I sat in the car, and I let [my husband] go inside to check everything out first,” Boyd said. “[My husband] was telling me, you know, everything that happened. How the roof caved in, how it was flooded, and all that nonsense.”…
