North Lubbock homeowners near the train tracks say they soon will ‘be able to relax’ following Wayside train horns getting updated

LUBBOCK, Texas — In April of 2024, everythinglubbock.com shared the concerns many North homeowners had living next the train tracks and how they dealt with the blaring of train horns at the early hours in the morning.

For three years Alice and Henry Lozada and their neighbors have heard many trains pass by their neighborhood. The Lozadas said it is really loud and often makes their house rumble. Alice said, “Just a just a couple of days ago, I was outside, and my husband says, run inside because the train is coming. Because of the fact that those decibels are so loud.”

Henry Lozada explained he has spoken to others about the situation and a credible source tells him, “[Trains] run about 26 times a day. Some of these conductors that will ride those horns all the way through the neighborhood.”

The city’s Public Works told everythinglubbock.com that work has begun on updating the broken train horns as of last week and BNSF Railway has started to bring in equipment to get those wayside horns fixed and said it should be completed in the next couple months…
