Covenant hospital warns community to be safe as risk for injuries rises on July 4th

LUBBOCK, Texas–As we prepare to celebrate the 4th of July, Covenant Medical Center reminds the community to stay safe during the holiday week. With many families enjoying fireworks, cookouts, and outdoor fun, it’s also a time when hospitals see a rise in preventable injuries.

Dr. Charles Bayouth, a surgeon at Covenant Medical Center, shared some insight on the types of injuries that commonly occur this time of year.

“Typical 4th of July injuries include mangled hands, facial injuries, and ophthalmology injuries due to fireworks,” said Dr. Bayouth. “We also see some burns as well.”
