LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Rich monsoonal moisture continues to fuel scattered thunderstorms through the rest of Thursday evening.
The main hazards are heavy rainfall, expected to cause some localized flooding, given slow storm motion. A few strong wind gusts up to 65 mph cannot be ruled out, as well as really small hail through sunset.
There is a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms to become more widespread after sunset if outflow boundaries collide and redevelop storms. Heavy rain and strong wind gusts will remain the major threats with overnight activity.
Most models indicate that if showers continue overnight, they should end before sunrise Friday. Temperatures Friday afternoon are forecasted to be a few degrees above average with mid-90s to low 100s for most of the region.
